Wessex Capacity Alliance, United Kingdom, London Waterloo

The Wessex Capacity Alliance is collaboration between Consultants, Contractors and Network Rail to deliver a £400million programme of improvements at the UK’s busiest railway station, London Waterloo, which will result in the biggest package of improvements for passengers travelling to and from London Waterloo for decades.

Rebuilding the former Waterloo International terminal, allowing platforms to be brought back into use with modern facilities, new track, signalling and a layout suitable for thousands of domestic passengers. Extending platforms to allow longer ten-car trains to run to London suburban stations. This work requires the alteration of platforms, rebuilding the tracks and renewal of the signalling approaching the platforms.

East West Rail Phase 1 Core Works GRIP 5, Network Rail

An improvement railway multi-discipline scheme to provide alternative passenger trains between Oxford and London Marylebone via Bicester. The scheme involved the construction of three new railway stations with new platforms connected via footbridge and stairs with associated lighting, LV power systems, supplies to mechanical and ventilation, new lifts and construction of new substations valued at £322 million.

Infrastructure Capital Investment, Network Rail

The assessment of a multi – billion infrastructure capital investments required for the UK railway sector for permanent ways, railway embankments, tunnels, culverts, over and under railway bridges and station structures over a 10 year investment horizon. The scope involved railway assets for Great Western Railways, West Coast Mainline, East Coast Mainline, Southern Rail, Thames Valley Railways and Scottish Rail.

Riyadh Metro Project, Saudi Arabia Government

Riyadh Metro is part of King Abdul-Aziz’s integrated public transport project, consisting of trains and buses, which will create 6 main metro lines, penetrate the capital of Saudi Arabia Riyadh from all directions, and include 85 stations at a cost of $22.5 billion.

Thameslink Programme, Network Rail, London

Thameslink programme upgraded railway systems, stations and other infrastructure to allow significant increase in railway capacity at a total value of £6.5billion. This is part of the transformation of north-south travel through London. Thameslink Programme will improve journeys when it completes in 2018 with new spacious trains every two to three minutes through central London at peak times. Improved connections will give passengers better travel options to more destinations than ever before and modern track and trains will make journeys more reliable. Thameslink Programme also includes the rebuild of London Bridge station to create more space, with great facilities, making it easier to use and passenger friendly.

BASRE Project, Alstom Transport, United Kingdom

The £197million BASRE project has three key drivers: renewal of the asset due to its condition, provide an Alternating Current (AC)-immune and electrification-gauge-compliant signalling system, ahead of the running of the first electric passenger train to Bristol in December 2016 and to achieve capacity and journey time improvements on the Filton Bank as part of the Control Period 5 Infrastructure Improvement Programme.
